Goodbye and welcome

Enkele interns, die het team van YFU Vlaanderen versterkten, beëindigen deze week hun project:
Justyna uit Tsjechië was ondertussen onze ancient. Zij startte vorige zomer als cultuurspelen intern en verzorgde voor ons de cultuurspelen het hele jaar lang. Wat een prestatie! Tot in de puntjes uitgewerkt en opgevolgd en met nog ruimte tot vernieuwing erbij. Het was een jaar met ups en downs en de occasionele frustraties van een echte job. Justyna deed het allemaal met het nodige overleg, een gepast verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel en hier en daar een spitse opmerking. Haar Nederlands is er dan ook alleen maar op vooruit gegaan het voorbije jaar.
Daarnaast begeleide ze af en toe mee een coloured glasses workshop, een interview, kwam je haar al eens tegen op YFU weekends, begeleidde ze onze studenten met klasse naar het YES kamp en co-organiseerde ze de Come & Go picnic met Meril.
Kortom, iemand waar je op kan rekenen en di haar mening durft te uiten. Veel succes tijdens je verdere studies!
Meril vervoegde ons team als tijdelijke coloured glasses intern in eind mei. Veel workshops zijn zijn er niet meer gebeurd in die periode, maar haar zonnige aanwezigheid, haar creativiteit en haar zin voor initiatief hebben haar niet tegen gehouden.
Ze verzorgde voor ons de sociale media, hielp mee met de gastgezinnen zoektocht, co-organiseerde de Come & Go picnic met Justyna, en vooral... Stampte een podcast uit de grond. The one and only "Purple Press podcast".
We zullen haar Zuid-Amerikaanse vibe missen. Take care on your next adventures!
Gabriel of Gaby was onze recentste aanwinst. Deze actieve vrijwilliger uit Argentinië nam deel aan het YES in Duitsland en reisde toen door naar hier om zich twee maanden op ons kantoor in te zetten. Het waren drukken maanden met de gastgezinnenzoektocht. Gabriel hielp vooral achter de schermen en schrok niet terug om taken die nieuw voor hem waren aan te nemen en tot uitvoering te brengen. Verder hielp hij ons met zijn Design Thinking methode om samen te brainstormen en om even stil te staan bij de stand van zaken.
Gaby is iemand die veel meer in zijn mars heeft dan dat wij in deze twee maanden hebben ervaren. Hij vormde een hecht team met Meril, of hadden ze het vooral over de laatste telenovela's? Wie zal het zeggen? Mijn spaanse kennis is beperkt...
Kortom, drie geëngageerde en waardevolle mensen die ons weer met spijt in ons hart afscheid doen nemen.
We willen hen enorm bedanken voor het werk dat ze deden, de feedback en nieuwe ideeën die ze deelden en de cheerful vibe die ze dagelijks mee naar kantoor brachten.
Maar niet getreurd... Onze nieuwe intern Vilma is al aangekomen en stel zich binnenkort ook voor. Stay tuned!

Three interns, who strengthened the team of YFU Flanders, will finish their project this week:
Justyna from the Czech Republic was our ancient. She started as intern for cultural games last summer and took care of the cultural games for us all year long. What an achievement!
She created and followed the planning up to the last detail and with room for innovation. It was a year with ups and downs and the occasional frustrations of a real job. Justyna did it all with the necessary dedication, an appropriate sense of responsibility and the occasional sharp remark. Her Dutch has therefore only improved over the past year (especially the Dutch accent has softened ;-).
In addition, she occasionally guided a colored glasses workshop, an interview, you have already met her at YFU weekends, she accompanied our students to the YES camp and she co-organized the Come & Go picnic with Meril.
In short, someone you can count on and who dares to express her opinion. Good luck in your further studies!
Meril joined our team as a temporary colored glasses intern in late May. Many workshops have not happened in that period, but her sunny presence, her creativity and her sense of initiative have not stopped her.
She took care of the social media for us, helped with the host family search, co-organized the Come & Go picnic with Justyna, and most importantly... Created a podcast. The one and only "Purple Press podcast".
We will miss her South American vibe. Take care on your next adventures!
Gabriel or Gaby was our most recent team member. This active volunteer from Argentina took part in the YES in Germany and then traveled here to work at our office for two months. It's been a busy few months with the host family search. Gabriel mainly helped behind the scenes and wasn't shy to take on and complete tasks that were new to him. He also helped us with his Design Thinking method to brainstorm together and to reflect on our work and operating.
Gaby is someone who has much more to offer than we have experienced in these two months. He formed a close team with Meril, or were they mainly talking about the latest telenovelas? Who can tell? My Spanish knowledge is limited...
In short, three committed and valuable people who say goodbye to us with regret in our hearts.
We want to thank them so much for the work they did, the feedback and new ideas they shared and the cheerful vibe they brought to the office every day.
But don't worry... Our new intern Vilma has already arrived and will introduce herself soon. Stay tuned!
